„Everyone who wants to change the world is welcome!” 49 entrepreneurial thrillseekers followed this warm invitation of the Medical Innovations Foundation, the University of Tübingen and the University Hospital Tübingen. The Open MedTech Innovation Day offered a foretaste of what is to come in our 2016 batch.

Accelerate!

Never change a winning team – this is why Christoph Zrenner, Lukas Radwan and Daniel Heblik from the Medical Innovations Incubator GmbH got Daniel Bartel on board again. He did not only give a keynote on the startup spirit in the sector of medical technology, but also led through the agenda of the Open MedTech Innovation Day. Under his guidance the participants identified 54 medical problems and proved entrepreneurial spirit by offering a total of 89 solutions to those problems. In the end, the attendees got together in ten teams, put their ideas into a Business Model and finally pitched it. In short, they accelerated the accelerator by living through the 100 days programme in only six hours. Tough job!

As so much talent shouldn’t remain undetected there were some special guests in the audience. We were especially happy to welcome Dr. Barbara Jonischkeit and Caroline Ref from BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg as well as Dr. Patricio Lopez from Jülich Research Center/BMBF.

Along their way the participants have been supported by Ralf Allrutz from Allrutz Consulting who introduced them into the exciting field of pretotyping. And, once again, professor Eberhart Zrenner shared the emotional story of his own company, Retina Implant AG. Being the founder of the Medical Innovations Foundation, he clearly demonstrated that an innovation machine like the MedTech Startup School is a great opportunity for every young entrepreneur.
