The Hospital Immersion program at the University Hospital (UKT) gives the participants the chance to delve into the everyday challenges of health care professionals. That experience helps them to create a product that really fits the needs of the hospital.

Be Part of the Hospital Routine

Our participant Rani Kalpana spent a day at the University Hospital Tübingen (UKT). Usually, Rani studies Management at the Hochschule Reutlingen. For her it was the first time in a hospital not being a patient herself.

She had the chance to join the ward round of professor Ulf Ziemann, medical director of neurology. Along with medical and assistant doctors of the ward of epileptology and vascular neurology Rani witnessed complex clinical histories. She watched professor Ziemann in his exchange with patients and listened to the professional discourses about their medical conditions.

A hospital is not only a place where doctors and patients interact, it is also an enterprise. That is why an insight into the administrative sector was vital as well. So Rani also visited case manager Christina Tomschitz. Christina is responsible for the optimization of daily work flows. She coordinates the work of the medical professionals as well as the medical, social and economic interests of the patients.

For Rani her day at the hospital was a good learning experience that will surely influence her work in the summer school.
