Scientists and students of diverse disciplines met in Tübingen for the second time in order to find solutions for present and future challenges in healthcare. The event took place at the CRONA Hospital at February 16th, 2016. It has been supported by the Ministry of Finances and Economics Baden-Württemberg and the BMBF.
The second Open MedTech Innovation Day is a cooperation of the University of Tübingen and the Medical Innovation Incubator GmbH. Together with medical doctors, almost 50 participants identified numerous problems concerning the clinical daily routine and patient care. They searched for possible solutions and finally developed ten business models using methods like Design Thinking, Business Model Canvas and Pretotyping (not Prototyping!). Their findings ranged from a smartphone app that supports recovery after diverse indications to virtual reality rehabilitation.
Demand-based ideas for innovations like these have been recommended to be financially supported by the Medical Innovations Foundation at March 1st. Some of them will be extended by scientists, students, medical doctors and further experts within the MedTech Startup School 2016 (July, 9th – October 17th). However, it is also possible to take part in the 100-day programme of the Startup School with an own entrepreneurial idea within the field of healthcare and medicine.
The projects will finally be presented in public at Demo Day at October 17th. Please get in touch with Dr. Lukas Radwan if you are interested in participating in the MedTech Startup School 2016 or would like to attend Demo Day.
